What Is The Difference Between a Contact Method and a Marketing Source

Main Difference

The Contact Method is the channel the lead/prospect/person used to first contact you such as a walk-in, phone-in, or internet.

The Marketing Source is the origin of where the lead/prospect/person found your company (How did you hear about us?).

Contact Method
The contact method is fixed across all GymSales customers. The options are:

  • Referral
  • Phone-in
  • Walk-in
  • Internet
  • Guest Visit
  • Outreach
  • Corporate
  • Ex Member
  • Renewal
  • Other

You may want to track contact methods because your team might be great at converting Internet leads, but not so good at Phone leads. Therefore it allows you to focus coaching and training in the right places.

Marketing Source
You can add as many marketing sources in GymSales as you like. By tracking marketing sources you can see where your leads are coming from and measure the success of your marketing campaigns over time and make adjustments for further improvement. This will eventually lead to better decisions when it comes to using your marketing dollars. Because marketing source is a stat that is important for many companies, you can make this a required field through your company settings.
